During the month of June of this year, a mentally deranged person who is not a Shiah, entered the Musjid in Malmesbury, Cape Town where he went on a rampage wounding two persons and killing one.
Imraahn Mukaddam, a Shiah living in Cape Town, made a public statement to convey the impression that Mufti A.K.Hoosen had instigated the murder. Making the defamatory and highly inflammatory accusation, Mukaddam said that Mufti A.K.Hoosen “had blood on his hands”.
In making this statement, Mukaddam was insinuating that the mentally deranged killer had committed the murder because he was influenced by Mufti A.K.Hoosen’s lectures on Shi’ism. Obviously, this idea which
Mukaddam sought to convey is false. The killing was not executed by a Shiah on a Sunni. It was by a Sunni in a Sunni Musjid, and he killed a Sunni. Therefore, the question of the incident being a Shiah-Sunni
issue is totally baseless.
In view of the very serious accusation of murder insinuated by Mukaddam, Mufti A.K.Hoosen has instituted legal proceedings against him. The details are stated in the summons as follows:
