‘ISLAMIC’ MESSAGES WITH MUSIC AND VIDEOS!?!
Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Music (singing) cultivates hypocrisy in the heart just as water cultivates the crops.”
Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “People among my nation will drink wine, calling it by another name, and musical instruments will be played for them and singing girls (will sing for them). Allah will cause the earth to swallow them up, and He will turn them into monkeys and pigs.”
Hadhrat Ali (radhiallahu anhu) said: “Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) prohibited beating of the duff (drum) and the sound of the flute.”
Hadhrat Ibn Abbaas (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “I have been sent (by Allah Ta’ala) to destroy the musical drum (tablah) and the flute.”
Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “The angels do not enter the home, where there is a dog and pictures (of animate objects).”
Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “The people who will receive the severest punishment from Allah will be the picture makers.”
There is consensus amongst the Fuqaha that music and musical instruments are Haraam. There is also consensus that pictures of animate objects (regardless of the media) are Haraam.
Since music and pictures of animate objects have been explicitly declared Haraam in our Shariah, the severity of the punishment for deriving pleasure from it is clear and indisputable. When this is the case with general music and photography, one can only imagine the evil and depravity of coupling music or animate photography with Islamic content? Its similarity would be like serving Halaal food in a swine’s skull! The insult that this crude act heaps on our Deen is beyond description.
Many people are extremely careless nowadays, especially when circulating videos and voice clips with music on social media that evolve around ‘islamic’ topics. There can be absolutely no Deeni benefit or reward in circulating something that has music or contains pictures of animate objects. On the contrary, Allah Ta`ala will punish the person who promotes anything that has music or photography in it, regardless of the content. Instead of having any positive effect, such messages have a negative impact on the Imaan of anyone who consumes this content.
In another Hadith, Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said of a person who was singing that his Salaat is not accepted. Imagine the gravity of the sin when music is coupled with Islamic content? This sin is not trivial. Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said that the act of deriving pleasure from music and singing is KUFR!
If you receive any content that contains music or photography (videos) of animate objects, do not EVER circulate it regardless of how ‘good’ the content may seem. In fact, as soon as you realise there is music or animate photography, stop listening and delete it from your device. Immediately inform the sender of his/her error and ask them to desist from circulating such Haraam which disgraces our beautiful Deen. The Deen of Allah Ta`ala does not depend on Haraam means for its dissemination.
May Allah Ta`ala guide us all.
