WHAT OR WHO IS A “MOLSAAP”?

WHAT OR WHO IS A “MOLSAAP”?

In a Hadith cited in Tafseer Qurtubi, Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is reported to have said that Allah Ta`ala detests fat Ulama. A similar statement is reported by Imaam Ghazaali (rahmatullahi alaih) to have been mentioned in the Tauraat as well.

Whilst this detestation of Allah Rabbul Izzat for fat Ulama does not include those who are naturally or ‘genetically’ fat, it refers to those Ulama who satiate themselves with worldly luxuries and those who ‘live to eat’. The Qur`aan Majeed and Ahaadith Shareef are replete with examples of the deviation of the earlier nations at the hands of their priests and religious leaders. The very same destruction that befell those nations is now upon us. Just as the religious leaders of yore lived off the ‘fat of the people’ so too are our Ulama nowadays.

OLD BOYS REUNION?

The latest functions that have been innovated at the expense of this ummat are the so-called “Abna-e-Qadeem” (Old Boys) reunions being organised by so-called Ulama for their ilk. In fact, the very term “Abna Qadeem” is grammatically questionable.

This celebration of ‘Old Boys Reunion’ is stolen from the kuffaar. In emulating the words of Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), even the so-called Ulama of our time are crawling into the lizard’s hole, hot on the heels of their kuffaar compatriots. Where in our beautiful Shariah do these ‘ulama’ extract this celebration from? Did Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) or his Sahabaah (radhiallahu anhum) have an ‘old boys reunion’ for the As`haab-e-Sufa? Did the students of Imaam Abu Hanifah, Imaam Shaafi, Imaam Bukhari, etc, etc, hold Abna-e-Qadeem celebrations for their former students?

If the Muslim Community must just reflect, they will realise that this curse of such wasteful shaitaani reunions never were in existence even a decade ago! Wherefrom and why did they spring up, suddenly? More senior and greater Asaatiza have passed away in the past, and yet there has never been ‘Abna Qadeem’ parties held in commemoration of them before. Why now in this belated era? This is simply another fitna from the fitan foretold to us by Nabi-e-Kareem (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). And that too, initiated by none other than ulama!

STEPPING STONE TO HARD-CORE BID`AH

Just as the functions of ‘Meelaad’ were initiated with ‘sincere intentions’ they have now become branded as Bid’ah by all our Ulama. Even those Ulama who organise and attend these new-fangled ‘Old Boys’ functions will tell you that the Meelaad functions are Bid`ah. They are however, unfortunately, too short-sighted to see that they have now initiated a function that will eventually become a hard-core bid`ah – just like the ‘Meelaad’ celebrations of the Ahle Bid`ah.

With the spawning of Girls Madrasahs nowadays, it is not far away that we will see ‘Old Girls Reunions’, which like the old boys, they will append an Arabic word to legalise it. They’ll probably call it “Banaat-e-Qudama” or similar. This will be their excuse to strut around the halls and streets in all their shameless fancy fashion.

“MOLSAAP”

This latest stupid reunion to be held in Lenasia – which by the way is an excuse for the Molvis to satiate their gluttonous appetites, thereby coming directly under the purview of the Hadith cited above – is to be held in the name of some poor deceased personality whom they stupidly call “Molsaap”. Where is the respect for the deceased? Where is the respect for their dear departed Ustaad Saheb? This is the dialect of the ignorant masses who neither know the value of adab nor do they know how to transliterate from Urdu or Arabic.

Would this Ustaad of theirs condone their feasting and rejoicing in his name? This function is absolutely nothing other than a soiree in the name of a departed soul.

According to the Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), this function and all its participants are cursed by Allah Ta`ala. One needs to just see the program they planned for this occasion – bayaans, nazams, qiraat, bid`ah thikr recitals and – of course – FOOD, DRINKS & TEA PARTIES!!! All this for an entire weekend!

Who exactly are they fooling with their ‘bayaans’ planned for the party weekend? Everyone knows that the ‘molsaaps’, and ‘halfsaaps’ that will be present, will be bickering away during their entire weekend outing.

What we find sad – VERY SAD – is the presence of ‘seniors’ that will be giving bayaans at this revelry. These are real ‘old-boys’ who studied at credible Daarul Ulooms and under the tutelage of personalities in India and Pakistan. Don’t they see the futility and sin in these celebrations?

Where is the benefit in feeding over-fed gluttons? In fact, one of those seniors who will be giving a bayaan at this party once cited an example demonstrating the unappreciative nature of people who attend glamorous weddings. Regardless of what expense the rich squander at these weddings, people will always have something to complain about. The same applies to these so-called ‘ulama’ functions. Rich hogs can never be satiated. Almost every participant at these functions is well-fed and definitely do not need further stuffing.

It is ridiculous to see so-called ‘ulama’ stuffing themselves and rejoicing at these reunion parties when a large – very large – part of this Ummah is living in absolute squalor and deprivation! Muslims in many parts of the world are dying of malnutrition and poverty, whilst our FAT ‘ULAMA’ party the weekends away! La Hawla Wa Laa Quwwata!

Whether the expenses for these parties are paid for using people’s Lillah monies or whether it is sponsored by one or two ‘fat-cats’ – this money can be put to much better use by feeding needy Muslims. And then there’s the expense of those travelling from out of town to come to these soirees. Even that money can be used for Allah Ta`ala’s Pleasure in feeding the hungry.

If these Ikhwaane Shayaateen truly had the respect and concern for their dearly departed Ustaad (whom they ignorantly refer to as “Molsaap”), they would rather spend all this money on the poor and needy Muslims as Eesale Thawaab for all their Asaatiza. Naturally this idea does not dawn on their brains because they desperately need to party and satiate their nufoos.

APPEAL TO THE SENIOR ULAMA PARTICIPANTS

Our heartfelt appeal goes to those senior Ulama who are scheduled to speak at this lavish “Molsaap” event. We appeal to you to reflect on the futility and profligacy of this event. Allah Ta`ala did not endow you with Ilm and seniority so that you may frolic with ignoramuses. You are all well aware that such events never took place in the past. You must realise that this is the stepping stone to greater evils that will take place in the name of the Deen. Tomorrow when you are in your graves, your names will be used to perpetuate and bolster these bid`aat. If you don’t have the courage, firaasat or taqwa to speak out against this evil, then at the very least do not be party to it. The young fledglings who have studied under you have adopted these innovations, and they are using your presence to give impetus to their nafsaaniyat. It is never too late to put an end to such evils. Not only must you realise that these functions are a waste of time and money, you know full well that the expense squandered at these parties can be put to much better use. Do you really wish to leave a legacy of sin?

Reflect on the words of Nabi (sallallahu alaihiwasallam),

Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Whoever introduces a good practice that is followed after him, will have a reward for that and the equivalent of their reward, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest. Whoever introduces an evil practice that is followed after him, will bear the burden of sin for that and the equivalent of their burden of sin, without that detracting from their burden in the slightest.”
